Matilda

Italy & Croatia Specialist

There’s simply nothing better than exploring a new place, finding hidden gems, meeting people from all walks of life, and being exposed to different cultures. I live for travel, and this passion was sparked entering adulthood at 18 where I travelled around Europe. Among travelling all corners of the world since then, I spent a year sailing the Croatian coast which was so surreal getting to really know the beautiful islands, hidden beaches, national parks… it has so much to offer.

Italy also has so much diversity and endless exploring possibilities. Not only does the food and wine speak for itself, the culture, the history, the landscapes, and the people are all second to none.

With my firsthand experience, I’m excited to help others create unforgettable travel memories and explore the world’s best kept secrets.

Q&A with Matilda

San Marzano pasta, Naples

What’s the best local dish you’ve tasted?

In Naples, they grow San Marzano tomatoes which are arguably the tastiest tomatoes in the world. After visiting Pompeii, I had San Marzano pasta, which was just the smoothest, richest and probably the most delicious pasta I’ve ever had. The famous sauce only contains four ingredients which is, of course, the San Marzano tomatoes, basil, garlic and olive oil — there isn’t even any need for parmesan. I’d highly recommend anyone going to Italy, and trying this pasta, you won’t regret it.

Summer in Venice

What’s your most vivid travel moment?

There are multiple, spectacular moments I’ve had in both Italy and Croatia, but one absolute highlight was stepping outside of Venice train station to be met by quite literally a floating city. The bright blue water with the speedy water taxis, the charming gondolas, and the unbelievable number of bridges. In a place where no cars or roads exist, Venice truly is an extravaganza and still after many visits, I still can’t fathom how the locals get around and don’t get lost.

Niseko, Niseko

Where would you love to travel next?

Niseko, Japan. Without a doubt. I’ve heard it’s one of the best places in the world to ski. What a phemonomal experience it would be getting lost in Japan’s largest ski resort, with snow being metres high and eating some authentic Japanese food. Then a quick stop in Tokyo to see the bright lights and absorb the hustle and bustle.
