The hotel's rich history is palpable, having once served as a monastery for Roman nuns. A Baroque church remains on the premises, and a small group of elderly nuns still reside in a secluded part of the hotel. In the evenings, they can occasionally be seen discreetly attending to their routines in the chapel.
Today the hotel has done a masterful job of staying true to this storied history while also creating a modern retreat in the middle of the Eternal City. What was once a stoic, porticoed hall now boasts a black and white checkered marble floor leading from the reception to well-furnished sitting rooms. A peaceful, green courtyard area creates a quiet place to relax while a roof terrace offers expansive views over the rooftops of Trastevere and beyond.
